Carissa Showers

     Residing at the facility since 2013, Carissa Showers owns and operates CCS Equine. Being a horse owner for over 20 years, Carissa has first-hand experience in managing emergency situations such as colic, as well as chronic conditions such as arthritis. As a practicing Registered Dietitian, she also understands the importance of proper nutrition and preparation in performance.

      After a youth spent showing an trail riding Arabians,  Carissa spent her teenage and young adult year riding  with Susan Kantz, a hunter/ jumper trainer and judge who had previously worked for Olympian Katie Monahan. It was here that she discovered her love for Thoroughbreds, which she showed mainly in working hunter. Furthering her education, Carissa also spent time working as a Professional Groom for Grand Prix jumpers. Today, she continues to ride under the instruction of an Eventing coach.

     Carissa’s life with horses has taught her commitment, perseverance, attention to detail, time management, money management, self-control, and self-respect; traits she strives to pass on to her students. Her approach is invaluable in teaching children patience, work ethic, and dedication. At each session her goal is for the student to accomplish something they can be proud of,

Stephanie Carter

    Stephanie is capable of coaching all levels but enjoys focusing on educating young horses, and folks who wish to be competitive.  Her objective is to provide children and amateur owners with competitive partners who are confident, safe, and athletic. Her pupils compete at all levels of shows from schooling to the ‘AA’ Circuit.

     Raised by an equestrian professional in eastern Michigan, Stephanie has competed successfully for more than twenty years in Hunter/Jumpers and Dressage.  She is a former United States Pony Club member with D-3 rating and during her junior years, worked as a show groom and assistant trainer for an internationally known welsh pony farm.  There she received the knowledge and experience training horses and ponies for carriage driving. She has been developed by trainers such as Olympic Medalist and Coach, Major Robert J. Borg, Olympic Event riders Phillip Dutton and the O’Connors, dressage rider/competitor Christine Koch, and many others.

    Stephanie is also an American Riding Instructor’s Association (ARIA) certified instructor in Hunt Seat, a certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist (ESMT), and worked as a  Veterinary Technician for many years.  Stephanie is currently sponsored by CWD Sellier and HorseTech.
